Studio Policies & Guidelines
Welcome to Backstreet Performing Arts of Riverside, California. Backstreet Performing Arts School of Dance and Musical Theatre offers classes to children as young as two years old and to adults. We offer recreational classes as well as competitive dance teams. Please visit our Web-site for more information on why to choose Backstreet as your school for Dance and Musical Theater.
Parents are encouraged to be apart of their child’s education in the arts. Viewing for our dance classes is normally available from outside classroom windows. Teachers do have the right to close classrooms from viewing when deemed necessary. At any time, parents may make an appointment to discuss their child’s progress. Your enrollment to our program is a statement of your confidence you have with us, and we thank you for letting us teach you or your child.
Dress Code: Backstreet does have a dress code for each of its classes. Please check with the office or the teacher to find out what it is.
Attendance: The education you or your child needs depends on steady attendance whether you are on competitive teams or there for recreational purposes. Punctuality and discipline are expected in order for us to do our best. Absences without reason may result in demotion or dismissal from classes. If you are going to be absent, you must notify the office either by calling or by E-mail. A make-up class will be given only on notification of absence and is only available for the current month.
When someone enrolls in our schools, both dance and music, we encourage them to be enrolled for the full year as with any other school. This policy is to ensure that the student has the opportunity to fully learn proper technique in a manner without interruption.
Students will be placed in appropriate classes based on age, prior training and ability. Students progress at different levels, so we assess each student on the level of ability, attendance and attitude. As soon as the student displays the skills necessary to move to the next level, the student and parent will be notified. Class placement is always made with students best interest in mind.
Parent's Responsibility to be aware of Dates and Events: It is the responsibility of the parent or adult to be aware of all school activities, such as viewing days, recitals, extra classes and dates the school is open or closed. The studio will post all such notices. It is the responsibility of the parents or adult students to inform the studio of any address or telephone number change.
Additional Information: Full tuition is due during the months of December and the months of recitals regardless of the number of lessons received. Additional rehearsals are mandatory during this time and will be scheduled .
We are continuously posting notices and memos to keep you better informed of what is happening at Backstreet. Be sure to always check your e-mail, the bulletin boards, tables, doors and windows for the latest information. Our newsletter (Backstreet News) is one way to provide our clientele with information pertaining to what’s new, a calendar of upcoming events, student and teacher features and tid-bits from Patty’s Pen.
